The traditional presentation ceremony to round off the 2025 Shropshire Time Trialling season took place on a cold but dry lunchtime with a well received social and café stop organised with the significant help of Ellerdine Village Hall committee members led by Cheri Williams. Around 90 riders and supporters were in attendance, with club runs converging on the hall to cheer on the winners and catch up with other clubs’ riders. SCCA Chair Helen Tudor introduced proceedings, thanking supporters and highlighting another successful season, mentioning excellent competition for championships over a wide range of distances and formats; with the Road Bike category singled out as going from strength to strength. She then pointed out the 46 trophies on display laid out ready to be presented, showing the depth and breadth of County promotions available thanks to great support from clubs, and specifically mentioning the three trophy updates for 2025 before introducing the SCCA’s President, Rita Taylor to perform the ceremonial handing out of medals and trophies.
That level of competition was evident with several new names being added to the trophies in 2025, including Andrew Dawson, who won the Shropshire Road Bike 10 Mile Championship Trophy; Ben Bramford-Hale, who captured the impressively heavyweight Junior Inter-Club Trophy; Claire Blackwell-Smyth taking The Female Hill Climb Trophy; Colin Wells, competing for shelf space with daughter Hayley after winning The Shropshire Road Bike Inter-Club Championship Shield; Tim Evans, taking home the brand new replacement President’s Trophy thanks to racing every round of the Friction Hydarulics Series; and 12 year-old Mid Shropshire Wheelers’ Evie Charles, making a huge impression in her first season and getting the biggest roar of the day thanks to taking home the Junior Hill Climb Trophy after showing no fear to tackle The Burway’s 25% in the BBR Opticians Hill Climb Series, snaffling Gold at the last gasp.
There were some very familiar names taking home multiple trophies’ with Hayley Wells claiming the lion’s share with six awards; Tomos Hales capturing four including the County’s prestigious Cliff Ash Best all Rounder Trophy for the first time; Jonathan Mills-Keeling, Deb Hutson-Lumb and Jon Goh with three pieces of silverware each; and Dean Callister, Simon Romei and Chris Riley capturing two each. Mills-Keeling actually won 14 awards thanks to 5 Gold’s and 9 Silver’s after a terrific season; whilst Wells took 8 medals overall thanks additionally to a superb 100 Team Gold and 3rd Overall in the SB Sport Injuries Series. Hales meanwhile had 4 runner-up spots too in a glittering 2025.
In the Team competitions it was new names all round in the 2-Up format; with the aforementioned Jonathan Mills-Keeling winning the overall Mower Mec Series with Aerologic partner Scott Palmer; Paramount’s Emma Brown and Liz Hagen capturing the Female 2-Up Trophies; with Sorrel Williams and Karl Lombardi taking the Mixed Team 2-Up Trophies. In the 4-Up format however trophies were all retained with a superb win for Bridgnorth CC to hold onto both the long-standing John Farr 4-Up Shield and the newer Road Bike 4-Up Trophy; whilst Paramount CRT took the Female 4-Up Trophy with a hugely improved time. There was also no stopping Paramount in their successful defence of The Top Club Award, taken by a highly impressive 920 point margin.
